A station, a nickname and sixty-six dry years
Mudtown is the old nickname for the neighbourhood next door, where the mud ran off the hill every spring and covered the streets.
Built in 1946, the station holds a historical designation from the Ontario Heritage Trust. In partnership with the City of Owen Sound, which owns the building, Mudtown Station preserved the station's architecture while turning it into a working brewery and restaurant in a growing River District. In 2019 the renovation won a Lieutenant Governor's Ontario Heritage Award for Excellence in Conservation.
