The course

Play the ball where it lies

"Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots." Bobby Jones said it; our back nine proves it.

The beautiful rolling terrain of our championship layout is appropriate for all skill levels: wide landing areas off the tee, tight fairways where it counts, well-kept greens and enough elevation to make the cart worth it. Golf packages are available, and after your round the fully licensed decks look out over the course.

Why we built this concept for the Oaks of Cobden

A 4.5 from 181 golfers, reviewers who drive from Montreal to play it, and a website locked to 1024 pixels wide that phones shrink to a postage stamp. People booking a Saturday round from Ottawa are comparing you with Whitetail and Renfrew on their phones, and right now the site doesn't show them the course.

What we found on oaksofcobden.com

  • A Homestead / Websitebuilder template with the viewport fixed at 1024 pixels, so phones get a shrunken desktop page
  • The page is empty without JavaScript, so link previews and simpler crawlers see no text at all
  • The homepage is a logo, an aerial photo, three small tiles and a paragraph; The Course page has no content, just a title
  • Rates are a wall of text with three rate periods mixed together; the Book a Tee Time page is a blank frame
  • Nothing about the 181 reviews, the par, the yardage, the designer or the decks

What this concept changes

  • One full-bleed hero, a golfer's own words as the headline, and a Book button that follows you down the page
  • An explore grid (course, rates, leagues, tournaments, stay & play, booking) the way destination courses do it
  • Rates as four cards: spring, peak, specials and rentals, with the junior price where parents look
  • Leagues and family night as a weekly calendar, tournaments and the banquet hall as their own section
  • Chronogolf booking embedded, and a quote form for groups, with directions from all four directions people arrive

What's included

  • This concept was free. The full site is one fixed price: design, build and launch on oaksofcobden.com
  • Built from your own photos: a phone walk of the eighteen holes, the clubhouse and the decks is all we need, plus licensed stock for the gaps (the images here are placeholders)
  • Scorecard and hole-by-hole pages, and the Chronogolf widget wired in
  • Google Business Profile tidy-up: hours, booking link, photos, rates
  • Simple editing so rates and league nights change in a minute each spring, with hosting and updates for the first year

Design cues from the best in your field

Before drawing this we looked at how destination courses present themselves. Cabot Cape Breton opens with one full-width photo, a one-line promise ("Where World-Class Golf Meets Coastal Charm") and a Book Now button that never leaves the header, then a press quote, a six-card explore grid and a strip of accolades. The best public courses in Ontario follow the same shape at a smaller scale: hero, proof, grid, rates, booking. This concept uses that structure with your own review as the quote and your own rate sheet as the proof.
