The Old Rectory

Bed & Breakfast and self-catering Coachhouse Suites

Kim & Kevin · (519) 271-7498

Victorian red-brick house with a turret and wrap-around porch at golden hour
218 Ontario Street. A 1902 rectory, a short walk from the Festival theatres and downtown.Four guestrooms · Coachhouse Suites · Two offsite retreats

Accommodation for the discerning traveller, hosted by the same family for three decades.

The Old Rectory was built in 1902 and has been renovated to keep its heritage, charm and quiet. Kim and Kevin have welcomed Festival-goers, honeymooners and returning regulars here for thirty seasons, and they still greet every guest themselves.

Choose a guestroom in the main house, with breakfast and an ensuite bath, or one of the Coachhouse Suites with a private entrance and your own kitchen. Two further retreats sit a few minutes away for guests who want a whole place to themselves.

Breakfast

Mornings are the point

Breakfast is included with every room in the main house.

Expect something cooked, something baked and coffee that keeps coming, served in the dining room before you head out for a matinee. Guests in the Coachhouse Suites have their own kitchens and the run of the local bakeries.

Tell us about allergies or preferences when you book and we'll plan around them.

Why Stratford

Stay where the Festival is a walk, not a drive

The Stratford Festival runs April through October, and the theatres, the river and the best restaurants in town are all a short walk from our front door. Kim and Kevin keep a running list of where to eat, what to see and which performances are worth the detour.

Festival weekends book out early. If you have tickets, book the room next.

Ask about your dates

Tell us when you'd like to come and which room suits. We reply personally, usually the same day.

This is a design concept. On the live site this enquiry would go straight to Kim and Kevin, with the option of a live booking calendar.

A note from Tech Loop

Why we built this concept for The Old Rectory

A perfect 5.0 on both Google and TripAdvisor, three decades of hosting, and a website that still runs on an early-2000s CMS. Festival-goers comparing you against the inns around the corner are deciding on their phones, and right now the site works against you.

What we found on oldrectorystratford.com

  • Fixed-width Joomla-era layout (QS CMS) with a yellow and maroon template, a left-hand link column and a site search box
  • Several images don't load, leaving broken-image icons on the homepage, including the Facebook and Instagram buttons
  • Pinch-to-zoom is disabled and the layout doesn't adapt to a phone
  • No booking calendar, no rates and no room photos on the home page; guests have to click through "Guestroom 1, 2, 3, 4"
  • No mention of your 5.0 reviews anywhere

What this concept changes

  • One scrolling page that answers the three guest questions in order: what is it, what does a room look like, can I book my dates
  • Your Google and TripAdvisor ratings in a trust band near the top
  • Rooms and suites laid out as a grid with photos and a clear "enquire" path
  • Availability form now, with the option to add a live booking calendar later
  • Designed for a phone first, since that's where Festival trips get planned

What's included

  • Design, build and launch on your existing domain
  • Built from your own photos of the house, the rooms and breakfast, with licensed stock for the gaps (the images here are placeholders)
  • Google Business Profile tidy-up: photos, amenities, booking link
  • Simple editing so you can update rates and seasonal notes yourself
  • Hosting and updates for the first year
